One day trip

04 November, 2008

We made an experience for our self, if anybody want to follow our way to trip for your short time in Bali, just feel free.

On a Saturday we left Kuta at 08:00 WITA, drove through by pass Ngurah Rai heading to Gianyar regency.

Our first destination was Guwang art market. When we arrived at 08:45 WITA, the market has just opened. Morning price........ just try to bargain as much as you could for the things you are interested to buy. Sophisticated your shopping habit in 60 minutes. Enough? Ready to drive again, to go to Goa Gajah.

Within 30 minutes we arrived at the parking area of Goa Gajah temple. Please read the warning on the board before you entry the temple's area. Make sure you dress up politely. For woman, do not enter a temple during your monthly period. This is to respect the Balinese Hindu religion.
To reach the mouth of Goa Gajah temple, we stepped down follow the stone's stairs. We then to find two complex of ponds with water fountain. The outside area of the yard is tidy, so keep it like that, thanks.
We consumed 30 minutes covering all area and ready to heading to Pura Pusering Jagat.

Just in 10 minutes we arrived at the parking area of Pura Pusering Jagat. The temple now looked organized after their renovation project several years ago. We looked around for 30 minutes. Another temple in 5 minutes? yes, of course. Just 2km to the North (heading to Tampak Siring), we will find Pura Penataran Sasih.

There are 2 elephant statues as the gate of Pura Penataran Sasih, then the wide clean front yard of the temple is a cool and nice air circulation. Just 15 minutes around, we left and drove to Pura Candi Gunung Kawi.

Parked our car after 15 minutes drove, walk about 10 minutes then start to step down many stairs (I forgot to count them ha ha) The gate of the Pura Candi Gunung Kawi is a cut off a cliff, turn left we found many reliefs. Pura Candi Gunung Kawi is actually an old monument. There is a bridge with the clean water river flow underneath. Peace around .... only sound of water from the Pakerisan river. The relief building is a grave of Anak Wungsu, which was younger brother of King Airlangga. Step up on the way back? auch..... this is the place where we evaluate our exercise at fitness center. We then heading to Tampak Siring temple.

Within five minutes, we entered the gate of Tampak Siring Temple. There is a Presidential Palace on the highest level of the land at the left side walk through to the temple. There is a holy water complex that the people around Bali believed that the water will clean them and rejuvenate their life. Want to try? Dress up with sarong plus hash around your waist, see the example and follow the people in front of you. I am sure if you do it at the night time, you will be freeze enough...ha ha..
Kintamani? Yup, just 30 minutes driving, we arrived at Penelokan. We can see the lake Batur lay around and the mount Batur at the other side. Its been erupted several times and the last eruption was in 2000. (Interested to climb and see the sun rise? We need to stay one night at Toya Bungkah village, early in the morning around 04:00 WITA, we have to climb it to catch the sun rise.)
At Penelokan we had our lunch. There are many restaurants around, just selected one for our taste.
We didn't go to Toya Bungkah this time and will do next on the special trip. Toya Bungkah is a small village where STA (Sutan Takdir Alisyahbana was living before he passed away. The place is so exotic especially now there are many home stays, hotels and Resorts. This place also popular for a natural hot spring. Would like to enjoy it? Why not?

On the way back to Kuta, we went through a road to Tegallalang. At the left and right side of the road we found many handicraft warehouse, sometimes we saw 20' and 40' container were stuffing and loading handicraft. We drove to Monkey Forrest, which took us 30 minutes to the parking area.

It was a bit late for us when we arrived at Monkey Forrest. The monkeys had been feeding. We couldn't get a good photo of them, but we tried to do our best.

Enough of our journey today. We headed to Kuta via Penestanan road. Around 90 minutes, we stepped in to our office again in Kuta. It was a wonderful journey of photo hunting for our book titled "Jalan-jalan Bali".
